Scuba Kauai – Diving Courses
PADI Open Water Certification Course
Scuba Certification begins here! Start with PADI’s online eLearning Course…don’t spend your entire vacation in a classroom!
If you’ve always wanted to take scuba diving lessons, experience unparalleled adventure and see the world beneath the waves, this is where it starts. Get your PADI Open Water Diver Course – the world’s most popular and widely recognized scuba course. Millions of people have learned to scuba dive and gone on to discover the wonders of the aquatic world through this course. To enroll you must be at least 10 years of age or older. You need adequate swimming skills and need to be in good physical health. No prior experience with scuba diving is required.
Kauai Down Under makes the process simple! Your PADI Open Water Scuba Course is conducted in 3 parts:
Knowledge Development Independent Study: Once you are scheduled for your certification course, we will send you the eLearning Code so you may begin your Knowledge Development online. Who wants to spend their entire vacation sitting in a classroom? We would prefer to help you have more fun in the sun while on vacation! You will be responsible to complete the 5 chapters of reading, 5 knowledge reviews, 4 quizzes and 1 final exam all prior to beginning the practical course work.
Confined Water Skills Development: Once your knowledge development is complete, we will get you in the pool to teach you the necessary skills to begin your scuba certification process. Learning the fundamentals in the clear confined water of a pool leads our students to greater success when reaching the ocean dives because you were able to master the skills and gaining confidence in your ability to execute those skills without having to worry about poor visibility or constantly battling waves as a first time diver.
Open Water Dives: Finally, we will get you out to the open ocean to practice your newly acquired skills and begin to experience the magic of the underwater world.
The entire course can be completed in 2 days (provided your eLearning is complete prior to arrival). A typical schedule is meeting at 7am on Day 1 for the confined water skills and heading to the open ocean in the afternoon for the first 2 open water dives. Day 2 would simply be the final 2 open water dives and upon the successful completion of all of the skills…you will be the newest PADI Open Water Certified Diver!
PADI Open Water Referral Course
The PADI Open Water Referral Course is a two day course designed for the diver who has already completed their academic and pool training at home with a PADI Dive Center. This course consists of the four open water dives needed to complete your certification. Each referral course includes all necessary scuba equipment, delicious snacks, cold beverages, and a hot water shower for after the dives.
PADI Adventure Dive Course
The PADI Adventure Diver Course consists of 3 adventure dives. Upon completion of the adventure dives, you are recognized as a PADI Adventure Diver, which makes you a more experienced diver than simply having the PADI Open Water Diver rating. You get to choose the 3 dives that you wish to do from the following: AWARE – Coral Reef Conservation, AWARE Fish Identification, Digital Underwater Photographer, Diver Propulsion Vehicle (Underwater Scooter), Enriched Air (Nitrox) Diver, Equipment Specialist, Multilevel Diver, Night Diver, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Project AWARE Specialist, Search and Recovery Diver, Underwater Naturalist, or Underwater Navigator. Deep, Cavern, Ice and Wreck Diver specialties are excluded from the Adventure Diver options.
PADI Advanced Open Water Course
The PADI Advanced Open Water Course is a 2-day course which contains 5 adventure dives. Two of the required core dives for this certification are a Navigation Dive and a Deep Dive. 3 elective dives are chosen by you in addition to the 2 core dives. The choices for the elective dives come from the following: AWARE – Coral Reef Conservation, AWARE Fish Identification, Digital Underwater Photographer, Diver Propulsion Vehicle (Underwater Scooter), Enriched Air (Nitrox) Diver, Equipment Specialist, Multilevel Diver, Night Diver, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Project AWARE Specialist, Search and Recovery Diver, Underwater Naturalist, or Underwater Navigator.
PADI Rescue Diver Course
This course includes academic theory relating to diving and pressure-related injuries along with pool and open water training. You must also complete a certified CPR course before the end of this class to qualify for the certification.
